Job summary

Elwyn seeks a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management for individuals housed in a county detention center. The PMHNP will ensure services align with federal/state laws, NCCHC/ACA standards, and organizational policies.

Qualifications

• Must hold ANCC credential as PMHNP.
• Experience in psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
• Ability to assess suicide risk and intervene appropriately.
• Strong collaboration with physicians, nurses, psychologists, and detention staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for incarcerated individuals.
• Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders and manage treatment plans.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications with monitoring for side effects.
• Order and interpret lab tests for medication monitoring.
• Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies and crises.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant communication with correctional staff.
• Complete clinical documentation in the EHR within required timeframes.
