Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. in Indiana seeks a Corrections Officer to supervise inmates across living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas and to coordinate counts and emergency responses. You will help ensure safety, monitor program activities, and maintain daily logs.

We require a high school diploma or equivalent, willingness to work extended shifts, and a valid driver’s license. Prior correctional experience is preferred; competitive benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• College coursework or training in behavioral sciences or related field preferred.
• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to handle physical and mental stress of extended hours.
• Must be able to regularly report to work without being late.
• Ability to be physically alert on any shift.
• Ability to work up to sixteen hours within a rolling 24-hour period.
• Correctional work experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Mature, flexible and able to command respect and manage mental stress.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor inmates in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas.
• Coordinate movement, counts, and emergency response as needed.
• Ensure program activities stay safe and supervise labor crews.
• Conduct shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items as per policy.
• Keep daily logs including disciplinary reports.
• Provide prompt assistance to those who are injured or ill.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to keep the facility clean.
