Job summary

The Kentucky Department of Corrections is seeking motivated individuals for the role of Correctional Officer at the La Grange facility. You will contribute to safety and security by enforcing rules and supervising inmates in housing, dining, and work areas.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, observation, and teamwork, and can work under pressure. Must be at least high school graduate and meet physical requirements; training academy within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security by enforcing rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Supervise inmate activities in housing units, dining areas, recreation and work areas.
• Attend to medical, visitation, personal property, and recreational needs of inmates.
• Inspect and patrol grounds for contraband and security risks.
• Complete required reports and daily logs.
• Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.
