Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• College coursework in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.
• Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity preferred.
• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with long shifts.
• Must be able to regularly report to work on time.
• Capacity to be physically alert on any shift.
• Ability to work up to sixteen hours within a rolling 24-hour period.
• Work experience in a correctional setting preferred.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor inmates in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas.
• Coordinate their movement (counts and emergency response as needed).
• Ensure program activities stay safe and supervise labor crews.
• Conduct shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items as per policies.
• Keep daily logs including disciplinary reports.
• Provide prompt assistance to those injured, ill, or traumatized.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to keep the facility clean.

Education
