Job summary

Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is hiring for Winter 2027 Correction Officer Academies in Boise. The role involves safety, security, supervision, and daily operation duties within Idaho correctional facilities.

A strong emphasis on integrity, teamwork, and professional boundaries is required to support positive change. Minimum qualifications include 18+ years old, a high school diploma or GED, POST academy prerequisites, and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Meet entrance requirements established by the Idaho POST academy for correction officers (IDAPA Rules).
• Experience using a personal computer to enter, retrieve, and edit information.
• Not currently on felony or misdemeanor probation.
• Eligible to own/possess or receive a firearm under state or federal law.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations.
• Assist with facility operations to ensure policy and security procedures are followed.
• Conduct multiple daily counts of incarcerated individuals and maintain logbooks.
• Escort or transport incarcerated individuals and property within different areas.
• Review and complete institutional forms, court documents, and various reports with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Inventory and search property and conduct searches as needed.
