Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a dedicated Correctional Officer for Branchville Correctional Facility. You will work as part of a team in a medium-security setting for adult males, maintaining security and safety during 12-hour shifts and ensuring daily programs run smoothly.

Requirements include at least 18 years old, a valid driver’s license, willingness to travel, and a high school diploma or equivalent. The role involves overtime and strict adherence to procedures, with comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• Age requirement: at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Willing to travel with reasonable accommodations.
• Must test negative on all drug screenings.
• Veteran/law enforcement candidates encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work with incarcerated individuals per DOC mission statement.
• Overtime may be required; up to 16 hours per day.
• Ability to understand and utilize chemical agents properly.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, inmates, and supervisors.
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain personal and staff safety and security of inmates.
• Monitor assigned areas for security and operations.
• Follow established security procedures and protocols.
• Manage inmates in work details and daily activities.
• Escort inmates to and from locations for meals, medications, and recreation.
• Document movements, activities, and rule violations.
• Search inmate housing areas and visitors for contraband.
• Attend worksite according to assigned schedule.
