Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a Correctional Officer at the Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis. You will work a 12-hour shift to maintain security, ensure staff and inmate safety, and support daily activities and programs within a maximum-security facility.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work overtime up to 16 hours per day. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with comprehensive benefits offered by the state.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security of the unit and safety of staff and incarcerated individuals during a 12-hour shift.
• Monitor assigned areas for security of individuals, buildings and grounds.
• Follow security procedures and report incidents.
• Manage incarcerated individuals in work details and escort to locations as needed.
• Record movements, activities and rule violations; complete conduct reports.
