Correctional Officer (NC) $10,000 Sign-On Bonus

We are seeking full-time employees to join our team as Correctional Officers, with a $10,000 Sign-On Bonus. Positions are eligible for an additional $1,000 Employee Referral Bonus.

We offer a new Step Pay Plan with competitive starting salaries and guaranteed annual increases based on experience, including credit for prior North Carolina Correctional Officer experience.

Effective July 1, 2024, the department can hire Lawful Permanent Residents who have resided in the US for the past 3 years, and 18- and 19-year-olds as Correctional Officers.

We recruit for Correctional Officer I, II, and III levels statewide. The level depends on the custody level of offenders supervised, ranging from Minimum to Close custody.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the care, custody, and control of offenders.
  • Touring assigned areas, observing offender activity, and performing security duties such as searching for contraband, monitoring movement, maintaining records, and supervising offender work details.

Requirements:

  • Active Driver's License.
  • High School diploma or GED, with experience requirements depending on the level.

Employees must adhere to appearance and grooming standards and be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
