The Division of Institutionsis responsible for the care and custody of approximately 30,000 individuals incarcerated in 53 prisons across North Carolina. Our division categorizes the institutions into various custody levels, which include Minimum, Medium, and Close, to ensure that the precise level of supervision is provided. With the purpose to provide every individual in custody proper care and supervision, irrespective of their custody level.
