Seasoned level work involving monitoring and controlling inmates at a state correctional facility. Responsibilities include maintaining discipline, supervising offenders during work details, compiling violation reports, escorting offenders, conducting searches, and possibly working in maximum security units or special response teams. May involve training or mentoring lower-level staff. The position is located at the Mississippi State Penitentiary within Area II.
Successful candidates will need to be highly organized, detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines, and adhere to MSPB and MDOC policies and procedures.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma) and 3-4 years of correctional or secure facility experience. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have completed the required training at MDOC or an equivalent program approved by MDOC. Employees under 21 will be assigned to non-peace officer posts.
