The State of Vermont seeks a Correctional Officer II to supervise custody, treatment and training of incarcerated individuals within a correctional facility. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent AND 18+ months of work experience in a correctional system involving custody of inmates or in a psychiatric facility involving direct care of patients.
• Associate's degree or higher AND 1+ year of work experience in a correctional system.
• One year of military experience AND 1+ year of work experience in a correctional system.
• Mental and physical condition appropriate to successfully perform essential job functions.
• Note: Felony conviction requires waiver; certain past convictions may render ineligible without waiver.

Responsibilities

• Supervise correctional staff and inmates within a correctional facility.
• Conduct transportation of medication between facilities and verify counts.
• Perform searches and inventories of property, sharps, and other items as needed.
• Evaluate staff performance and prepare written reports; participate in revisions of procedures.
• Overtime may be required to maintain safe staffing levels and continuous operations.
