Job summary

State of Tennessee in Wartburg, TN is hiring a Correctional Officer 1 to perform entry-level custody, transport, and rehabilitation duties at Morgan County Correctional Complex. The role requires background checks, MVR screening, and completion of required training.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available, payable over 18 months. Starting salary ranges from $4,267 per month ($51,204/year) with potential increases as the state business necessitates, and a full-time schedule is expected at the Morgan

Qualifications

• Criminal background clearance required.
• Be willing to qualify with and carry assigned weapons.
• Minimum age 18 and U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmate activities in housing units, dining areas, recreation and work areas.
• Inspects and patrols grounds for contraband and security risks.
• Checks in new inmates by assigning accommodations and searching for contraband.
• Observes inmate behavior and counsels inmates and families as needed.
• Attends staff meetings, disciplinary boards, riot control and first aid training.
• Prepares daily logs, disciplinary reports, and inmate pay records.
