Job summary

Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office in Sioux Falls, SD, is accepting applications for Correctional Officers to maintain safety and security within a growing jail facility. New hire class starts November 30, 2026, with additional openings planned in early 2027.

Training includes 11 weeks of classroom and on-the-job instruction with expanded crisis intervention training. Officers may receive up to $1,000 retention bonuses at 9, 18, 27, and 36 months and enjoy night shift differentials and bilingual

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security within the jail facility.
• Conduct inmate head counts, wellness checks, and security rounds.
• Supervisor inmate movement, intake and release processes, fingerprinting and photographing, and ensure accurate documentation.
