Essential Functions
- Manage inmate intake, booking, and release procedures, including fingerprinting, photographing, searches, and inventory of personal belongings.
- Maintain jail safety and security through rounds, inmate counts, inspections, and contraband searches.
- Respond to emergencies and take appropriate action.
- Monitor inmates and jail activities via surveillance equipment, ensuring welfare and security.
- Operate jail equipment and control access to the facility, including managing keys and alarms.
- Interpret and enforce bond conditions, record fines, and manage bail/bond transactions.
- Maintain communication and documentation related to jail operations and incidents.
- Provide necessary medical and mental health attention to inmates following policies.
- Manage inmate services such as meals, hygiene, mail, and requests.
- Supervise visitors and facilitate inmate access to external services and family.
- Ensure Huber inmate compliance, including employment verification and drug testing.
- Transport and escort inmates to various facilities and appointments.
- Respond to inquiries and testify in court as needed.
- Perform tests and collect samples for substance analysis.
- Handle bail bonds, fine payments, and canteen transactions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Understanding of criminal justice system operations.

- Ability to develop contingency plans and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Leadership skills to manage and command staff effectively.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
- Record-keeping and documentation skills.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work under stress and in compliance with strict time limits.
- Proficiency in computer software including MS Word, Excel, and databases.
- Mathematical skills and accurate record-keeping.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond after hours as needed.
- Court testimony credibility.
Physical and Work Environment
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; sitting, standing, speaking, hearing, handling, and repetitive motions are required.
- Visual requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, with ability to adjust focus.
- Work involves wearing protective equipment and exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases.
- Primarily located in a secured detention facility, with potential for dealing with hostile or violent individuals.
