Safety and Security Operations – Post Specific/See Post Orders for more detail:
- Security Controls/Control Center Operations – Monitor keys, radios, security equipment, fire alarm systems, distress calls, and control of door locks. Operate electronic doors, telephone systems, radios, intercoms, alarm systems, CCTV, data assistants, computers, and use weapons/incarcerated individual control devices.
- Facility Patrol – Patrol facilities, conduct security checks, rounds, and inmate counts. Inspect all areas for safety/security issues. Search for contraband in inmates, vehicles, packages, equipment, cells, and property.
- Perimeter Patrol – Regularly patrol the perimeter to ensure security, fences, and monitor vehicle traffic. Communicate via radio with staff, search vehicles, and provide security and fire watch. This is a weapons post.
- Transportation/Escort Services – Transport inmates on and off grounds. Escort inmates, visitors, and staff, verifying passes or legal documents. Interact professionally with the public, visitors, and victims, providing information and assistance.
- Interpersonal Interactions and Core Correctional Practices – Demonstrate understanding and use of core correctional skills. Interact with inmates, using behavioral techniques to promote problem-solving, behavior change, and reinforcement. Serve as a change agent to prepare inmates for community reentry.
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Successful completion of psychological tests, background check, health screen, drug test.
- Complete all training during probation, including orientation and emergency preparedness.
- Possibly obtain a Commercial Driver's License and endorsements as required.
