Job summary

Harris Health System is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse - Correctional Health (APN-CH) to provide clinical care to justice-involved individuals under physician supervision. The APN-CH will lead quality care, collaborate with pavilion leaders and nursing staff, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Role focuses on intake assessments and both acute and chronic care within the jail system. The ideal candidate holds a Master of Science in Nursing, Texas APRN license with prescriptive

Qualifications

Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited school.
Current APRN with Texas Board of Nursing recognition.
Current prescriptive authority or eligibility from the Texas Board of Nursing.
Specialty certification in Correctional Health or equivalent as required by unit/service.
One year of work experience in a relevant setting.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical care to justice-involved patients under supervision of the attending physician.
Collaborate with pavilion leaders, nursing staff, and other disciplines to ensure quality patient care.
Lead programmatic and individual patient care with emphasis on culturally competent, outcome-focused therapy.
Conduct intake health assessments, acute and chronic care visits, and life-saving measures for the Harris County Jail population.
