Job summary

County of Luna in Deming, NM seeks a dedicated medical staff member to support the Luna County Detention Center Medical Department under the Health Services Administrator, NP, RN, and LPN. The role involves responding to emergencies and assisting with routine nursing duties for inmates.

You will participate in initial examinations at intake, document medical histories, and help maintain medical bags and equipment.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic course.
• Current and unrestricted certification or registration in the state of employment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a criminal background investigation and a pre-employment drug screen.
• Prior experience in a correctional or jail setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid response to medical emergencies throughout the correctional facility.
• Assess health problems of new patients and develop medical records.
• Obtain historical information and provide additional care as needed.
• Document medical history, treatment, and prescription drug use.
• Restock, sterilize, and maintain medical emergency bags and equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
