Job summary

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Applicants must meet the Basic Requirements: a Bachelor's with required coursework or an equivalent combination, or teacher certification. You must also have two years of graduate education toward a master's or a master's degree, or one year of specialized teaching experience. Documentation must be uploaded and linked in USAJOBS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that included or was supplemented by supervised student teaching and at least one course in each of the following areas: general psychology, human development, history and/or philosophy of education, and teaching methods at the learning level of the position to be filled, i.e., elementary or secondary learning level.
  • OR combination of education and experience - at least 1 full academic year of professional teaching experience at the elementary or secondary school level as appropriate to the position to be filled.
  • Teacher certification or licensure in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

  • Two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR master's or equivalent graduate degree.
  • OR You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty to the next lower grade level.
  • Some examples of this qualifying experience could be: Experience in teaching programs such as Literacy, GED, and ESL; developing lesson plans and curricula to meet individual learning needs; developing a record-keeping system to track student progress; interpreting various formal and informal academic measures.
  • OR Combination of Education and Experience
  • To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time spent in activities.
