Job summary

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry is seeking a Tucson Correctional Corporal to supervise lower level staff, maintain security, and enforce facility rules under the Corrections Sergeant’s direction. The role includes shift supervision, reviewing incidents, and ensuring inmate safety and custody.

Candidates must have passed probation as a Correctional Officer II by the posting close date and upload their Promotions Certificate during application.

Qualifications

• Must have passed probation as a Correctional Officer II in the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry by the end of the close date on this announcement.
• Upload your approved Promotions Certificate to the application and meet the eligibility requirements for promotions, voluntary demotion, discipline, and performance evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Review misconduct reports submitted by lower level personnel for completeness and accuracy before submitting to the Sergeant.
• Assist in supervising the work of Correctional Officer II staff in the safe custody, discipline and welfare of inmates on an assigned shift.
• Keep accurate head count of inmates in assigned security post.
• Ensure security staff maintains prescribed security, custody and control of inmate populations; inspect living/work areas for security, sanitation and safety; prepare reports and incident documentation; initiate investigations as needed.
• Attend required training on or off site as scheduled.
• Responsible for the safety of all inmates assigned to the area of responsibility; isolate inmates when protection is requested; respond to incidents requiring separation.
