Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Case Manager to supervise a caseload at Western Correctional Center for Women in Black Mountain. The position involves counseling, assessments, case planning, and collaboration with the classifications team.

The role supports rehabilitation efforts, conducts crisis interventions, and requires reporting based on interviews and observations while maintaining professional communication under stress.

Qualifications

• Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
• Must meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (certification) and pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive counseling, conduct assessments, develop case plans, respond to offenders’ questions, and make recommendations to the classifications committee.
• Communicate effectively with staff, offenders, and the public under stressful conditions.
• Perform crisis interventions including suicide prevention.
• Assist in major dynamic programs or coordinate rehabilitation-oriented programs (education, work assignments, recreation) and transition planning.
• Prepare written reports reflecting data reviewed from interviews, documentation and observation.
