Job summary

NC Department of Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Case Manager (S) to provide case management services for an assigned caseload of offenders at a multi-custody female facility. Responsibilities include classification reviews, counseling, housing assistance, and program referrals, with strong communication to staff and offenders.

The role involves crisis interventions in stressful environments, report writing, and potential assignment to certified capacities as needed.

Qualifications

• Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
• Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• High school diploma or GED with two years custody experience within NC Dept. of Adult Correction or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performing regular classification reviews, needs assessments, plans, job assignments, program referrals and regular one-on-one contact for counseling.
• Providing transitional information, assisting with housing and recommendations for classification upon offender review.
• Communicating effectively with staff, offenders, and the general public.
• Working under stressful conditions with incarcerated offenders and performing crisis interventions including suicide prevention.
• Preparing written reports reflecting data reviewed from interviews, documentation, and observations.
• This is a certified position and employees may assist in certified capacity as needed.
