Job Duties

This position is located at Dan River Prison Work Farm in Blanch, NC (Caswell County), a minimum custody male facility, reporting directly to the Program Director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing case plans, addressing offender questions and issues, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
  • Assisting with major dynamic or specialized programs for offender rehabilitation, such as work assignments, work release, education, recreation, and transition planning.
  • Planning and coordinating re-entry (transition) efforts prior to parole or community release.

Effective January 1, 2025, new salary adjustments will be implemented, with ranges from $35,984 to $62,971, as approved by the State Human Resources Commission.

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with State Benefits, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm. Additional hours may be required to meet business needs.

About The NC Dept. Of Adult Correction (DAC): Responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of adults convicted under North Carolina laws, including state prisons, healthcare, facility operations, and community supervision divisions.

About The Dan River Prison Work Farm: Located in Blanch, NC, on a 187.5-acre site, housing minimum custody male offenders. Work assignments include food service, maintenance, janitorial work, and offender construction programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Competencies: Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of case management practices, supportive counseling, or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.

Minimum Education and Experience: An associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field; or a high school/GED diploma plus two years of custody experience with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
