This full-time position reports to a Correctional Programs Supervisor at a multi-custody male correctional facility and involves providing case management services to an assigned caseload. Responsibilities include conducting classification reviews, needs assessments, facilitating program referrals, offering supportive counseling, assisting with offender housing and classification, participating in onsite activities, and communicating effectively with staff, offenders, and the public. The role requires working under stressful conditions, including potential physical and verbal threats, and performing crisis interventions such as suicide prevention.
Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with one late shift from 12pm-9pm. The salary range, effective January 1, 2025, is $35,984 - $62,971. The position is classified as NC07, and state benefits are included.
Qualifications include an associate degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field, or a high school diploma/GED with two years of custody experience in NC Department of Adult Correction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants must document knowledge of case management practices, supportive counseling, or interviewing techniques in their work experience. Certification eligibility by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission is required.
