Lake Land College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach in assigned discipline areas under the supervision of the Associate Dean. The role requires mastery of subject matter, commitment to student learning, and strong English communication.

You will prepare syllabi, deliver instruction, assess student performance, and maintain scholastic records. Compliance with college policies and Illinois DOC regulations is essential in this position.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in the relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

• Teach in assigned discipline areas as directed by the Associate Dean.
• Prepare instructional materials and course syllabi using provided templates.
• Evaluate and assess student performance and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure attendance and class schedules; communicate absences to the Associate Dean.
• Maintain professional standards and stay current with instructional methods and technology.
• Assist during emergencies and adhere to college and DOC regulations.

Description

Responsible for teaching in discipline areas as assigned by the respective Associate Dean. All instructors are expected to demonstrate a mastery of the subject matter and a commitment to teaching and learning with a focus upon student retention and success.

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:

1. Observes supports and enforces the regulations policies and programs of Lake Land College; adheres to the procedures outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
2. Comply with Illinois Department of Corrections Regulations and procedures.
3. Prepares instructional materials including a course syllabus using the syllabus template provided; follows course outlines approved by the College; evaluates and assesses student performance.
4. Arrive at work site prior to beginning of established shift signing in and out on designated college and DOC forms.
5. Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
6. Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
7. Submits required documentation attendance forms final course grades and other information as requested or required by the associate dean; maintains accurate scholastic student records.
8. Remains current with content technology and instructional methods and strategies in the discipline.
9. Maintains regular communication with associate dean especially with regard to absences and/or cancelling class.
10. Maintain supervision of students in assigned areas and report any issues immediately to security staff and associate dean.
11. Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations
12. Performs other related duties as assigned by the associate dean.

Knowledge

• Demonstrates ability to learn the Lake Land College information systems and processes; maintains all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline.
