Responsibilities

• Observes, supports and enforces Lake Land College regulations and programs as per Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
• Complies with Illinois Department of Corrections Regulations and procedures.
• Prepares instructional materials including a course syllabus; follows approved course outlines; evaluates student performance.
• Arrives at work site before the shift; signs in/out on forms.
• Arrives at the classroom before scheduled class time and conducts classes professionally.
• Submits attendance, final grades and required information to the associate dean; maintains records.
• Keeps current with content, technology and instructional methods; communicates with the associate dean about absences or cancellations.
• Maintains supervision of students and reports issues to security and associate dean; assists during emergencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the associate dean.

Job description

Responsible for teaching in discipline areas as assigned by the respective Associate Dean. All instructors are expected to demonstrate a mastery of the subject matter and a commitment to teaching and learning with a focus upon student retention and success.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Observes supports and enforces the regulations policies and programs of Lake Land College; adheres to the procedures outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
2. Comply with Illinois Department of Corrections Regulations and procedures.
3. Prepares instructional materials including a course syllabus using the syllabus template provided; follows course outlines approved by the College; evaluates and assesses student performance.
4. Arrive at work site prior to beginning of established shift signing in and out on designated college and DOC forms.
5. Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
6. Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
7. Submits required documentation attendance forms final course grades and other information as requested or required by the associate dean; maintains accurate scholastic student records.
8. Remains current with content technology and instructional methods and strategies in the discipline.
9. Maintains regular communication with associate dean especially with regard to absences and/or cancelling class.
10. Maintain supervision of students in assigned areas and report any issues immediately to security staff and associate dean.
11. Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations
12. Performs other related duties as assigned by the associate dean.

Education Requirements:

• Master's Degree in in the discipline.

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 2,000 hours work experience in the field.

Knowledge:

• Demonstrates ability to learn the Lake Land College information systems and processes; maintains all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline.
