Responsibilities

• Observes and enforces the regulations, policies, and programs of Lake Land College; adheres to the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
• Complies with Illinois Department of Corrections Regulations and procedures.
• Prepares instructional materials including a course syllabus and evaluates student performance.
• Arrives at the work site before the class; signs in/out on college and DOC forms.
• Attends the classroom before scheduled class time and maintains professional conduct.
• Keeps accurate scholastic records and communicates with the associate dean regarding absences or cancellations.
• Stays current with content, technology, and instructional methods in the discipline.
• Maintains regular communication with the associate dean about absences or changes.
• Maintains supervision of students and reports issues to security staff and associate dean.
• Assists institutional personnel during emergencies and performs other related duties as assigned by the associate dean.

Description

Responsible for teaching in discipline areas as assigned by the respective Associate Dean. All instructors are expected to demonstrate a mastery of the subject matter and a commitment to teaching and learning with a focus upon student retention and success.

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:

1. Observes supports and enforces the regulations policies and programs of Lake Land College; adheres to the procedures outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
2. Comply with Illinois Department of Corrections Regulations and procedures.
3. Prepares instructional materials including a course syllabus using the syllabus template provided; follows course outlines approved by the College; evaluates and assesses student performance.
4. Arrive at work site prior to beginning of established shift signing in and out on designated college and DOC forms.
5. Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
6. Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
7. Submits required documentation attendance forms final course grades and other information as requested or required by the associate dean; maintains accurate scholastic student records.
8. Remains current with content technology and instructional methods and strategies in the discipline.
9. Maintains regular communication with associate dean especially with regard to absences and/or cancelling class.
10. Maintain supervision of students in assigned areas and report any issues immediately to security staff and associate dean.
11. Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations
12. Performs other related duties as assigned by the associate dean.
