The New York City Department of Correction is seeking a Corrections Officer to join a safety-focused team across city facilities. You will monitor inmate safety, enforce rules, and support operations to maintain secure environments in several facilities.

Under supervision, you will perform security duties, inspections, searches, incident response, and reporting to ensure safe, humane custody and the orderly conduct of daily activities for inmates and staff alike.

Aufgaben

• Maintain security and oversee care, custody, control, and work performance of inmates.
• Supervise inmate meals, visits, recreational programs, and other activities.
• Inspect areas for conditions that threaten safety and security.
• Conduct searches to detect contraband.
• Complete forms and reports; maintain appropriate log books.
• Communicate with other officers to exchange pertinent information.
• Issue verbal orders, announcements, and explanations to inmates.
• Observe inmates and make recommendations concerning medical and/or psychiatric referrals.
• Safeguard Department supplies and equipment; escort inmates during transport.
• Respond to unusual incidents and disturbances; enforce security procedures.
• Count and verify the number of inmates; verify identification; supervise inmates of either sex.
• Operate a motor vehicle; perform related work.
