Job summary

The Columbus Consolidated Government seeks a corrections officer to help maintain security in the correctional facility, supervise inmates, and conduct routine rounds. You will ensure policy compliance and safety while supporting daily operations.

You will also handle inmate transfers, basic medical needs, searches for contraband, and detailed incident reporting, working to uphold standards and respond to emergencies as required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Georgia Department of Corrections rules and policies.
• Knowledge of correctional practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of laws pertaining to incarcerated persons.
• Pass P.O.S.T. certification within required time.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and report incidents.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates and observes daily activities.
• Conducts counts of inmates and performs rounds.
• Performs searches of facilities to remove contraband.
• Administers basic medical attention and first aid.
• Transfers inmates to and from court, medical facilities, and appointments.
• Maintains daily incident reports and paperwork.
