Base pay range
$140,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr
The Corporate Tax Director role and responsibility is to oversee. This individual will build out and manage the corporate tax function, interfacing directly with our senior and executive staff, and will report to the VP, Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the company’s tax strategy, including planning, forecasting, structuring and execution that aligns with the company’s growth objectives and private equity-backed structure.
- Oversee the federal, state and international tax compliance processes, including all tax filings (income, sales & use, property, etc), estimated payments, audits, transfer pricing, repatriation of cash and related reporting obligations.
- Manage the tax accounting close process and ensure timely and accurate reporting of tax provisions in the statements including monthly reconciliation of tax-related GL accounts.
- Lead the preparation and review of the company’s tax provision including appropriate footnote disclosures in accordance with ASC 740, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identify risks and opportunities within the company’s tax structure and provide recommendations for mitigation and optimization including R&D tax credits and Sec. 174 capitalization.
- Collaborate with finance, accounting and legal teams to assess tax implications of business operations, strategic transactions and corporate initiatives.
- Maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors, auditors and regulatory authorities to stay current on domestic and international tax legislation and to facilitate the execution of tax strategies and risk management initiatives.
- Oversee the identification, evaluation, and documentation of uncertain tax positions to ensure compliance with ASC 740-10.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and maintain proper documentation for all tax-related activites.
- Establish and develop the company’s in-house tax function to include a continuous assessment of resource and staffing needs.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and best practices within the corporate tax function.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740, income tax laws and regulations and the ability to research tax issues.
- Proven track record working in global, multi-entity environments with multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
- Proficiency in tax management software, MS Office, Google Suite, NetSuite.
- Ability to manage various outside service providers and stakeholders in a geographically disbursed organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex regulatory and tax matters in a concise and accessible manner that provides actionable insights.
- The ability to operate in a fast-moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
- Expertise in strategic transactions (IPO, M&A, recapitalizations, other secondary transactions)
- Preparation of tax provision. Currently outsourced – may continue to do so even with this hire under the tax director’s supervision.
- Preparation of tax filings. Same as tax provision – this role will supervise preparation.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including public accounting, with a focus on US and international tax compliance.
- 4 years of experience in a high-growth fintech company, public or private.
