Job summary

Albemarle is seeking a Director, Corporate Strategy to own the enterprise strategic planning process and develop growth and investment theses across lithium and bromine businesses. This hybrid role requires in-office presence on Tue, Wed, and Thu.

You will translate market insight into capital allocation decisions and sponsor executive-level strategy decks. In this position, you will partner with Investor Relations to ensure coherent external messaging, and you will lead cross-functional

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of experience in strategy, business management, consulting, or corporate development.
• Demonstrated experience building strategic frameworks, investment theses, and long-range planning processes.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative inputs.

Responsibilities

• Own the corporate strategy methodology: shape growth investment thesis and governance.
• Lead enterprise strategic planning, scenario planning, and LRP/AOP integration.
• Develop and maintain investment thesis structure: market beliefs and right-to-win analysis.
• Conduct portfolio reviews across lithium and bromine businesses and capital allocation trade-offs.
• Partner to build the unified corporate narrative across the organization.
• Collaborate with Investor Relations to align external messaging with internal strategy.
• Lead cross-functional strategic projects to enable new capabilities.
• Prepare executive strategy decks and board pre-reads; support governance cadence.

Albemarle is hiring a Director, Corporate Strategy to own and drive the enterprise strategic planning process, develop growth and investment theses, lead portfolio reviews across our lithium and bromine businesses, and link long-range planning to annual operating plans. This role sits at the center of Albemarle’s strategic decision-making architecture, translating market insight and executive direction into capital allocation choices and growth priorities. This position will be hybrid with an in-office presence Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday.

What You Will Do

• Own the corporate strategy methodology: shape the growth investment thesis, strategic fit analysis of opportunity evaluation, target list governance, and weighting conventions
• Lead the enterprise strategic planning process, including scenario planning, externality assessments, and strategy–LRP/AOP integration
• Develop and maintain the investment thesis structure — market beliefs, value chain positioning, right-to-win analysis, strategic posture, and screening criteria
• Conduct portfolio reviews across lithium and bromine businesses, evaluating growth trajectories, competitive positioning, and capital allocation trade-offs
• Partner across the organization to build the unified corporate narrative
• Collaborate with Investor Relations to ensure external messaging is coherent with internal strategy across Board, investor, and analyst audiences
• Lead cross-functional strategic projects to enable new capabilities or address complex enterprise-level business questions
• Prepare executive-quality strategy decks, board pre-reads, and pivot/exit narratives as needed
• Support the VP in building and evolving the Strategy & EBD office’s management operating system and governance cadence

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• MBA or advanced degree preferred

• Demonstrated experience building strategic frameworks, investment theses, and long-range planning processes
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative inputs
• Experience presenting to C-suite, Board of Direct
