Job description

The Children’s Museum is searching for Facilities and Exhibits Technician to help us achieve our mission of inspiring growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play. This is a full time position with benefits that reports to the Facilities and Exhibits Manager.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for construction, repair, and maintenance of exhibits and maintaining the buildings at our Downtown and Chesterfield locations. Responsibilities include light electrical and plumbing maintenance, repair and maintenance of museum exhibits, landscaping, cleaning, and other general labor support.

Competencies

Candidates should have a demonstrable passion for the mission and work of the Museum and a strong desire to make a difference in their community. Successful candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Candidates should have excellent problem solving abilities.

Skills and Abilities

Experience in light construction or other trade and two or more years in a general labor role is required. Experience with light electrical or plumbing work is highly desired. Experience in museum exhibits and/or creating theatrical sets is also highly desired.

Candidates should have a valid unrestricted driver’s license with clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check. This position requires extensive walking, standing, heavy lifting, and occasional use of tools. Occasional night or weekend hours may be required.
