Job description

Job Title: Corporate Lending Collateral SME
Location: Charlotte, NC (On-site)
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)

About the Opportunity

ZipStaff is seeking a Corporate Lending Collateral SME for a global technology services firm replacing a legacy collateral platform at a major US bank.

The new Collateral Management System will be the system of record for collateral and will integrate to loan origination and loan servicing. You will turn bank business needs into platform requirements and guide delivery from discovery through MVP and rollout. This is a hands‑on functional SME seat — not a developer role and not a generic BA role.

What You'll Do
  • Lead discovery with Relationship Managers, Credit, Loan Officers, Collateral Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Audit.
  • Document current‑state workarounds and define future‑state collateral processes.
  • Write epics, user stories, business rules, and acceptance criteria; refine the backlog with the Product Owner.
  • Cover the collateral lifecycle: acquisition and registry, classification, borrower / facility / loan links, cross‑collateralization, and guarantees.
  • Cover valuation, appraisals, eligibility, advance rates, LTV and coverage, and revaluation triggers.
  • Cover lien perfection (UCC filings, continuations, priority), mortgages, titles, and perfection exceptions.
  • Cover insurance adequacy, expirations, renewals, and force‑placed exceptions.
  • Cover release, substitution, approvals, and legal documentation.
  • Cover monitoring, periodic reviews, borrowing‑base and covenant exceptions, aging, and escalation.
  • Define functional integrations with AFS Vision, Loan IQ, nCino, customer master, credit‑risk systems, and document repositories.
  • Support legacy‑to‑new data mapping, cleansing, reconciliation, and coexistence.
  • Specify maker‑checker, segregation of duties, audit trail, and retention.
  • Define collateral inventory, exposure, coverage, and regulatory‑reporting needs (OCC / FRB / FDIC expectations).
  • Prioritize with architecture, development, and QA; support SIT, UAT, training, and go‑live.
Required Qualifications
  • 12+ years in commercial lending and collateral operations or lending technology, including 5+ years as a functional SME or consultant on lending or collateral system programs.
  • Deep knowledge of US commercial lending (C&I, CRE, ABL, syndicated or participated loans) and the credit approval and servicing lifecycle.
  • Hands‑on collateral operations: UCC Article 9 perfection, valuation and appraisal, insurance tracking, and releases.
  • Functional experience with at least one of AFS Vision, ACBS, Loan IQ, or nCino.
  • Requirements for a large lending or collateral platform build or migration, including data migration and reconciliation.
  • Agile delivery: Jira stories and backlog grooming.
  • Workshop facilitation with senior bank stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on‑site in Charlotte, NC.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Custom (non‑packaged) collateral or lending platform build.
  • STOC, Sageworks / Abrigo, or Moody's.
  • API or event‑driven integration concepts.
  • AI document extraction or intelligent monitoring use cases.
  • CSM, CSPO, CBAP, or a commercial credit certification.
  • Prior commercial credit analyst, loan officer, or collateral operations lead at a US bank.
Benefits
  • Health Insurance.
  • Dental Insurance.
  • Vision Insurance.
  • 401(k).
  • 401(k) matching.
  • Paid time off.
  • Referral Program.
