KBR seeks a Corporate G&A and Balance Sheet Accounting Manager to lead the accounting and reporting for corporate G&A expenses, lease accounting under ASC 842, and risk management programs. The role partners with planning and corporate teams to ensure accurate budgets, forecasts, and disclosures.
You will own balance sheet accounts, supervise staff, drive month-end close, and support internal/external audits. A CPA or advanced degree is preferred and deep knowledge of ERP systems is valued.
Title: Corporate G&A and Balance Sheet Accounting Manager KBR is a dynamic solutions provider to governmental and commercial customers globally. To support these solutions, KBR has a globally structured corporate support team to drive KBR's overall enterprise objectives. As part of the Corporate Accounting organization, the Corporate G&A and Balance Sheet Accounting Manager will directly interface with various business stake holders such as the Risk Management Team and various corporate support teams.
The position requires the ability to partner among many team members, including: Corporate Accounting and Planning to ensure proper input is provided for accurate budgets and forecasts. KBR segment accounting teams to communicate impacts of risk costs. Collaborate with business teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date reporting.
The position requires leadership and direct manager oversight of employees and is responsible for work assignments, performance reviews, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships. Lead the implementation and development of new procedures and features to improve the workflow of the organization and provide training for new or existing staff if necessary.
Manage accounting and reporting for corporate general and administrative expenses. Lead review and approval of monthly G&A accruals. Ensure timely and accurate recording of corporate operating expenses. Analyze monthly actual results and assist planning team as needed with actuals to budget variances as well as prior period variances. Support monthly and quarterly financial reviews with Corporate leadership. Monitor expense allocations and ensure consistency with established accounting policies. Support FP&A during budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes. Develop and maintain accounting procedures for assigned corporate expense areas. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, visibility, and accuracy of expense reporting.
Manage the Company's lease accounting process in accordance with ASC 842. Ensure leases in the Lease Accelerator tool are accurately entered and reconciled to ledger activity. Review lease contracts as needed and evaluate accounting treatment for new arrangements. Coordinate with Legal, Procurement, Real Estate, IT, and business stakeholders to identify lease-related transactions. Maintain lease accounting schedules and supporting documentation. Review and support lease-related journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosures. Support external auditors regarding lease accounting matters. Monitor compliance with company lease accounting policies and procedures. Monitor KBR Tower Lease along with current impairments.
Manage accounting and reporting activities related to the Company's risk management programs. Coordinate with Risk Management personnel regarding insurance programs and claims activity. Review and account for insurance reserves and claim-related accruals. Maintain accounting for self-insurance programs and captive insurance arrangements, where applicable. Review actuarial or third-party claims reports supporting recorded liabilities. Ensure proper accounting treatment for 3rd party premiums. Work with planning as necessary to ensure accurate forecasting for P&L and cashflow. Support financial statement disclosures associated with risk management activities.
Manage accounting and reporting for property, plant, and equipment. Oversee capitalization policies and ensure compliance with company accounting guidelines. Review capital expenditure requests and capital project accounting. Ensure proper classification of capital and expense transactions as needed. Oversee depreciation and amortization processes. Review useful lives and residual values for fixed assets. Coordinate fixed asset additions, transfers, impairments, retirements, and disposals. Support periodic physical inventory and asset verification procedures. Assist with acquisition accounting and integration activities impacting fixed assets.
Serve as primary owner for assigned corporate balance sheet accounts. Investigate and resolve reconciling items and unusual transactions. Maintain high standards of balance sheet governance and accountability. Support quarterly balance sheet review meetings and management reporting. Develop action plans for aging reconciling items and balance sheet risks. Ensure compliance with corporate account reconciliation policies.
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for assigned accounting areas. Coordinate responses to internal and external audit requests. Assist with implementation of new accounting standards. Support special projects, acquisitions, restructurings, and corporate initiatives as assigned. Maintain effective SOX controls over assigned accounting processes. Support internal control testing and remediation activities.
