Job summary

Scot Forge Company seeks a Corporate Functional Manager, Heat Treat to lead enterprise heat treat operations across multiple facilities. You will develop strategic heat treat direction, drive operational excellence, and standardize best practices while building organizational capability.

You will partner with Plant Managers and leaders to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and capacity, ensuring heat treat processes remain technically sound and aligned with customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years in heat treat/metallurgy/thermal processing with leadership.
• Experience leading multi-site manufacturing initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of heat treat processes, furnace operations, and materials behavior.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; pass pre-employment drug screen.

We're hiring a Corporate Functional Manager, Heat Treat to provide enterprise-wide leadership for heat treat operations across our manufacturing facilities. This highly visible role is responsible for developing heat treat strategy, driving operational excellence, standardizing best practices, and building organizational capability across the company.

You'll partner closely with Plant Managers, Metallurgy, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations leaders to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and capacity while ensuring our heat treat processes remain technically sound, scalable, and aligned with customer requirements.

This role supports operations in Spring Grove, IL, Franklin Park, IL, and Clinton, WI and may be based at any of these locations. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

What You'll Own

• Enterprise-wide heat treat strategy, standards, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Safety, quality, delivery, productivity, capacity, and compliance across all heat treat operations
• Development of heat treat leadership, technical talent, succession plans, and training systems
• Capital planning, equipment reliability, technology investments, and process standardization

What You'll Do

• Lead heat treat operations across multiple facilities, partnering with plant leadership to improve safety, quality, throughput, capacity, and overall performance
• Drive transformational change through standardized processes, operational excellence initiatives, and data-driven continuous improvement
• Develop leaders and technical talent through coaching, mentoring, training, and succession planning
• Collaborate with Metallurgy, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to solve complex manufacturing challenges and ensure customer and metallurgical requirements are met
• Lead capital improvement efforts involving furnace upgrades, automation, equipment modernization, and capacity expansion
• Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for heat treat processes, metallurgy, and thermal processing technologies

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of heat treat, metallurgy, thermal processing, or related manufacturing experience, including leadership of operations, technical teams, or multi-site initiatives
• Strong preference for experience in heavy manufacturing environments such as forging, steel, metals, foundry, aerospace, defense, or other industrial manufacturing operations
• Deep knowledge of heat treat processes, furnace operations, metallurgy, materials behavior, and process control
• Proven success leading transformational change, continuous improvement, and operational performance initiatives across multiple locations
• Strong business acumen with the ability to influence results, develop talent, and build credibility with plant leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
