Scot Forge, a 130-year-old, employee-owned metal forging company, is seeking a Corporate Functional Manager for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). You will lead enterprise-wide NDT strategy, standardize practices, and develop talent across multiple facilities.

The role partners with Plant Managers and leaders to drive safety, quality, and productivity improvements. Ideal candidates have 10+ years in NDT/Quality with leadership experience in heavy manufacturing like forging or aerospace, and ASNT

Qualifications

• 10+ years in NDT/Quality/Metallurgy with leadership.
• ASNT Level III certification preferred; multi-method certs desirable.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; pass pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide NDT strategy, standards, and improvements across facilities.
• Oversee UT, MT, PT programs across all plants.
• Develop NDT leaders and technician training with certification programs.
• Ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements for NDT processes.
• Collaborate with Quality, Metallurgy, Engineering, and Operations leaders to align on safety, quality, and productivity.

We're hiring a Corporate Functional Manager, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to provide enterprise-wide leadership for NDT operations across our manufacturing facilities. This highly visible role is responsible for developing NDT strategy, driving operational excellence, standardizing best practices, and building organizational capability across the company. The role combines the strategic responsibilities of our Corporate Functional Manager structure with technical oversight of Scot Forge's NDT systems, certifications, personnel, and inspection processes.

You'll partner closely with Plant Managers, Quality, Metallurgy, Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance leaders to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and customer satisfaction while ensuring our NDT processes remain technically sound, scalable, and compliant with customer and industry requirements.

This role supports operations in Spring Grove, IL, Franklin Park, IL, and Clinton, WI and may be based at any of these locations. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

The ideal candidate has experience in heavy manufacturing, preferably within the forging, steel, metals, foundry, aerospace, defense, or other industrial manufacturing sectors, and understands the operational realities of large-scale manufacturing environments.

What You’ll Own

• Enterprise-wide NDT strategy, standards, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Technical oversight of Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) programs across all facilities
• NDT personnel qualification, certification, training, succession planning, and leadership development
• Customer, industry, and internal compliance related to NDT processes, procedures, equipment, and records
• Capital planning, technology investments, equipment modernization, and process standardization efforts

What You’ll Do

• Lead NDT operations across multiple facilities, partnering with plant leadership to improve safety, quality, throughput, and overall operational performance
• Drive transformational change through standardized inspection processes, operational excellence initiatives, and data-driven continuous improvement
• Develop and mentor NDT leaders and technicians through coaching, certification programs, structured training, and succession planning
• Collaborate with Quality, Metallurgy, Engineering, and Operations teams to solve complex technical challenges and meet demanding customer requirements
• Oversee NDT methods, equipment calibration programs, written practices, audits, and certification systems across all plants
• Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for NDT technologies, customer specifications, industry standards, and inspection best practices

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of NDT, Quality, Metallurgical, or related manufacturing experience, including leadership of technical teams, operations, or multi-site initiatives
• Strong preference for experience in heavy manufacturing environments such as forging, steel, metals, foundry, aerospace, defense, or other industrial manufacturing operations
• Deep knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing methods, particularly Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
• ASNT Level III certification strongly preferred; certifications in multiple methods highly desirable
• Proven success leading transformational change, continuous improvement, and operational performance initiatives across multiple locations
• Strong business acumen with the ability to influence results, develop talent, and build credibility with plant leadership
• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
