Job Title: Controller

Location: Western Suburbs of Chicago, IL

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our manufacturing company located in the western suburbs of Chicago. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in public accounting and hold a CPA certification. This role is critical in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of financial reports and analysis.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
• Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Coordinate and support external audits, providing necessary documentation and implementing audit recommendations.
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure professional growth and development.
• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and support cross-functional projects.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong foundation in public accounting.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
