About Bishop Street Underwriters

Bishop Street Underwriters (BSU) is a specialty insurance holding company with a portfolio of 10+ operating businesses (OpCos) operating across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom with 400+ employees. Since launching in 2023, BSU has grown through acquisition and de novo build-out into an $800M+ gross written premium platform. The Corporate Finance function sits at the center of that scale, building the models and analysis that shape which deals get done and how the platform grows.

Position Summary

The Corporate Finance Manager reports to the Head of Corporate Finance & Corporate Development and works closely with the entire Bishop Street C-Suite and Operating Companies to support the Finance, Budgeting, Forecasting, Strategy and M&A functions at Bishop Street. This is not a role that reports on decisions after they’re made — this person is in the room while they're being shaped and numbers are still moving, and is expected to turn that into a clear, defensible financial story for the C-suite and PE Sponsor. You will be responsible for coordinating budgeting, business planning, analysis and reporting of revenue and expenses for Bishop Street and Bishop Street Operating Companies, helping them execute against Finance strategies.

The Corporate Finance Manager is a critical role at Bishop Street and an extraordinary opportunity to provide strategic financial guidance, drive business performance, and support decision-making to fuel our company’s growth trajectory.

You will leverage best practices for aggregating, translating, and presenting information, including budgets, KPIs, financial reports, business activity and forecasts, and other data, while helping develop new processes and tools to improve the FP&A function as well.

Key requirements of the position — exceptional financial modeling and data visualization skills, strong communication skills, attention to detail, speed, accuracy, and a sense of urgency. We need someone who can cut through ambiguity and build a credible model before all the facts are in, then rebuild it fast when they change. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and turn analytics into meaningful insights that drive decision making and create board-level presentations supporting decision making and M&A is essential.

This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial-minded individual to play a pivotal role in a fast-growing, private equity-backed company. With strong organic growth, multiple inorganic opportunities and integration at any given time, and new strategic initiatives on the horizon, the company is scaling rapidly — and this role is genuinely inside that motion, not adjacent to it. Backed by a top-tier PE firm, this role offers direct exposure to the C-suite and the chance to grow alongside a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the C-Suite and Operating Company leaders to assist in the implementation of the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process
  • Maintain granular knowledge of business results and revenue and expense drivers, including capacity and reinsurance terms, capital spending initiatives, headcount changes, and the inputs and outputs required to meet business targets
  • Lead analysis to generate strategic recommendations and answer specific strategic questions from business leaders concerning the profitability and direction of the business and specific products, services and markets
  • Lead monthly action-oriented management reporting for use by senior business managers in decision making
  • Construct business cases and prepare financial modeling and ad-hoc analytics to identify opportunities, support strategic growth initiatives and evaluate lines of business for investment, divestment, and optimization
  • Own analysis and support evaluation of M&A and de-novo team lift-out opportunities for Bishop Street — often on compressed timelines and with incomplete information — and collaborate with the executive team and our partners to underwrite and build robust pro-forma financial models along with internal and external presentations for potential acquisitions
  • Apply learnings from budgeting, forecasting, operational, and strategic analyses to improve the underwriting and analysis of acquisition targets and lift-out opportunities
  • Leverage analytical skills to supply operating executives with actionable, data-driven analysis to drive decision-making at the pace the business moves
Qualifications

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, analytical, technically savvy, and operationally astute — someone who thrives on speed and ambiguity rather than being thrown off by it, and who takes ownership of responsibilities with minimal supervision. We seek an engaging team player who consistently demonstrates integrity, enthusiasm, and resilience.

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or relevant field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in accounting, consulting, banking, private equity, or operating companies
  • Mastery of Excel & PowerPoint and proficiency in analytical & visualization tools a plus (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Property & Casualty or Specialty insurance experience at a carrier or MGA is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
  • Excellent benefits
  • 401(k) program with company match
  • Flexible/Hybrid work environment
  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment
