Job summary

Obsidian is building a high-quality library of strategic finance work products and will have you complete self-contained exercises from mock files and markets, delivering a final rubric-graded deliverable.

You will build business cases, run capital allocations, and perform scenario analyses to inform pricing, cost baselines, and savings initiatives across a portfolio.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in strategic finance, corporate strategy, or corporate planning within an operating company.
• Ownership of a capital or pricing decision that went to a leadership forum.

Responsibilities

• Build business cases and investment appraisals with NPV and IRR for projects, products, or make-versus-buy decisions.
• Produce capital allocation determinations ranking investments against hurdle rates with portfolio review.
• Build scenario and sensitivity analyses of the corporate plan across demand, pricing and cost.
• Analyze pricing and discount economics to support price setting and deal desk approvals with margin impact.
• Produce market sizing and competitive landscape analysis, cohort and unit economics, and cost baseline and savings analysis for cost reduction programs.

What you'll do

• Build business cases and investment appraisals with NPV, IRR and payback for a project, product, or make-versus-buy decision.

• Produce capital allocation determinations ranking investments against hurdle rates with portfolio review.

• Build scenario and sensitivity analyses of the corporate plan across demand, pricing and cost.

You're a fit if you have

• 4+ years in strategic finance, corporate strategy, or corporate planning inside an operating company.

Nine to have

• Management consulting or Big 4 strategy background now in an operator seat; growth equity background now in-house; deal desk or pricing strategy experience.
