Job summary

Brown University is seeking a Corporate Engagement Officer to lead a portfolio of corporate prospects and partners within the Office of Corporate Engagement and Foundation Relations. You will initiate, develop, and manage high-impact relationships to advance Brown's mission across research, innovation, education, recruitment, and social impact.

You will collaborate with Deans, Institute Directors, and faculty to identify opportunities, craft mutually beneficial proposals, and support policy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; 6+ years in related field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience in higher-education corporate relations or a technical industry is highly preferred.
  • Ability to translate strategic opportunities into mutually beneficial proposals.

Corporate Engagement Officer

Job Description

The Corporate Engagement Officer leads a relationship management portfolio of corporate prospects and partners in Brown's Office of Corporate Engagement and Foundation Relations, initiating, developing, and managing high-impact relationships to advance the University's mission.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate prospects and partners capable of engaging with Brown across research and development, innovation, education, recruitment, and social impact initiatives, resulting in deeper industry engagement and increased investment.
  • Lead coordinated cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities; develop mutually beneficial proposals and industry-aligned agreements.
  • Partner with Deans, Center/Institute/Initiative Directors, and other academic leadership, faculty, researchers, and administrators to identify, develop, and advance opportunities for corporate engagement within academic units and at the university level.
  • Support the development of a best-in-class corporate engagement initiative, including, but not limited to, models and policies to support an effective and high-impact program.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in a related field, such as development, a technical industry-related field, and/or corporate relations. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience in higher‑education corporate relations, a technical industry, or technology transfer is highly preferred.

Ability to balance competing priorities and work well under deadlines.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner, exhibiting excellent written and oral communication skills, team-building skills, and demonstrating tact, poise, and diplomacy while working with a wide variety of personalities. Ability and comfort in meeting and interacting with individuals of considerable social status and affluence are required.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and proven responsible decision‑making skills; tact and discretion are required to handle highly confidential information from alumni, parents, students, families, donors, and prospects.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of multiple teams; commitment to working in a team environment is essential. Must be a detail‑oriented self‑starter.
  • Must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Capable of making critical, high‑discretion decisions under minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of email and calendars, the Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and other software such as Adobe Acrobat, donor databases, etc.
  • Experience using a customer relationship management (CRM) system is preferred.
