That’s why hiring thoughtful and inspiring Team Members and Leaders who understand that our people, collaboration, stellar service, and respect for nature are so important to us.

OUR COMPANY

1 Hotels invites guests to live in rhythm with nature—offering spaces that restore, inspire, and come alive from day to night, where sustainability, wellness, and social energy exist in thoughtful balance.

Treehouse Hotels brings back the wonder of childhood hideaways—cozy, curious, and just a little mischievous. It’s a place to play, dream, and drift off the script, where handcrafted details and nostalgic touches turn every stay into a story.

Baccarat Hotels carries forward a 250-year legacy and the spirit of l’art de vivre—the French art of celebrating life—with beauty, ritual, and moments of delight.

Recognized as one of Newsweek’s Global Most Loved Workplaces for 2026, Starwood Hotels fosters a culture where creativity thrives, collaboration is second nature, and people are valued for who they are and what they bring. If you’re ready to bring your whole self to a team where thoughtful work leaves a lasting mark—you belong here.

Starwood Hotels is seeking an exceptional Corporate Director, Engineering, to lead engineering operations and capital planning across the company’s portfolio of operating luxury and lifestyle hotels. This senior leadership role sits at the intersection of asset stewardship, hotel operations, capital investment, building systems, sustainability, and guest experience — responsible for ensuring that each property is safe, resilient, efficient, well maintained, and positioned to protect long-term asset value.

Reporting directly to SVP, Operations, the Corporate Director of Engineering, will oversee a global portfolio of 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels and Treehouse Hotels. As the company's project portfolio grows across multiple continents, this role will be pivotal in standardizing processes, resolving escalations and mentoring regional leaders.

The Corporate Director of Engineering will establish the portfolio-wide engineering framework for operating hotels while partnering closely with property General Managers, Directors of Engineering, ownership groups, Finance, Operations, Design & Construction, Sustainability, IT, Security, and other corporate functions. The role will provide technical leadership for annual and multi-year CAPEX planning, major renovations and infrastructure replacements, preventive maintenance, utility performance, regulatory compliance, and critical building-system reliability.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering, facilities, asset management, or technical operations experience, with substantial leadership responsibility in luxury or upper-upscale hospitality.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing engineering operations and capital programs across multiple operating hotels or similarly complex, 24/7 assets.
  • Deep working knowledge of central HVAC plants, controls/BMS, electrical distribution, emergency power, plumbing and domestic hot water, vertical transportation, fire/life safety, building envelope, kitchens, laundry, pools/spas, and other hotel building systems.
  • Proven ability to develop and prioritize multi-year CAPEX plans, evaluate asset conditions, build business cases, manage project budgets, and communicate investment recommendations to senior leadership and ownership groups.
  • Strong understanding of preventive/predictive maintenance, commissioning, equipment lifecycle planning, utility management, and root-cause failure analysis.
  • Experience managing projects in occupied hotels while minimizing disruption to guests, hotel operations, revenue, and brand experience.
  • Strong commercial judgment, executive communication skills, and ability to navigate owner, operator, vendor, and property leadership relationships.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Facilities, or another relevant Engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of technical education and significant hospitality engineering leadership experience.
  • Ability to travel regularly to operating hotels and respond to critical portfolio issues when required.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED AP, Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or comparable technical credential.
  • Experience with multiple luxury and lifestyle hotel brands, ownership structures, and management agreements.
  • Experience with hotel acquisitions, property-condition assessments, conversions, major renovations, and post-opening stabilization.
  • Working knowledge of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, energy-management platforms, BMS/BAS platforms, and capital planning tools.
  • International or multi-regional hotel engineering experience.
