Position Summary
This is an entrepreneurial, high-visibility role positioned at the center of our client’s strategic growth, sitting at the intersection of corporate development, M&A, and corporate strategy. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Corporate Development, the Associate will blend rigorous quantitative analysis with high-level qualitative problem-solving—shaping business strategy, evaluating transactions, leading complex initiatives, and collaborating closely with senior leadership.
In any given week, you may evaluate a new operating venture, structure a strategic joint venture, assess capital allocation decisions, and partner cross-functionally to turn approved initiatives into operational reality. The ideal candidate thrives in an autonomous, fast-paced environment, embraces ambiguity, and excels at breaking down loosely defined challenges into structured solutions and well-reasoned executive recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Modeling
- Build and maintain comprehensive financial models—including pro forma projections, growth scenarios, cash flow forecasts, sensitivity analyses, and distribution/waterfall schedules to guide executive-level decision-making.
- Analyze unit economics and partnership/revenue-sharing structures, translating raw data into actionable insights on margins, payback periods, breakeven thresholds, and overall investment returns.
- Partner with the finance and accounting teams to support holding-company budgeting, rolling forecasts, and recurring management reporting.
- Support the evaluation and execution of new business ventures, strategic acquisitions, and joint ventures through market research, commercial and financial due diligence, scenario modeling, and valuation.
- Assist in preparing investor/lender decks, diligence responses, data-room materials, and financing requests for capital-raising initiatives.
- Review term sheets, purchase agreements, and partnership contracts to evaluate key economic terms, ensuring alignment between legal documentation and underlying financial models.
Project Planning & Operational Execution
- Own workplans, project trackers, and critical path deliverables across multiple concurrent strategic initiatives, proactively reprioritizing tasks as business needs shift.
- Interface cross-functionally with internal stakeholders (finance, operations, legal, compliance, HR) and external advisors (outside counsel, lending partners, transaction counterparts) to maintain deal and project momentum.
- Help transition completed deals and approved initiatives from concept to execution by drafting operating frameworks, onboarding guides, KPI dashboards, and foundational processes.
Executive Materials & Communications
- Translate complex, loosely defined mandates into structured, presentation-ready first drafts—synthesizing data, highlighting core assumptions, flagging risks, and framing recommendations.
- Author executive-level memos, presentations, and board materials for the VP of Corporate Development and the executive leadership team.
- Develop scalable tools, standardized financial templates, and automated workflows—including leveraging advanced AI capabilities to enhance efficiency, speed, and analytical rigor across the corporate development function.
