In their deployable role, the Corporate Deployable Medic (CDM) is primarily responsible for the management of emergent and non-emergency medical care at worksites as designated by the client or content of the scope of work (SOW) when deployed; the sites may include drilling rigs, hazardous construction sites and areas of high workforce density. The CDM is responsible for the provision of primary and emergency care to client employees, contractors, and sub-contractor personnel at the relevant worksite location or the defined area of responsibility. In addition to providing routine medical services and responding to emergencies the CDM performs safety checks and evaluations of the necessary medical gear and equipment required to perform the job

In their corporate role, they will be supporting the Clinical Operations team in quality assurance and direct support to field clinical staff. They will be an advanced healthcare provider with experience in remote or austere environments that can think critically, solve problems and uphold the core values of RMI in the performance of their duties.

The CDM is expected to work as part of a team to ensure clinical excellence. They must maintain all required certifications as an advanced healthcare provider and any other required certifications in order to deploy to remote sites as needed by RMI to support our field clinical staff and clients globally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following

  • Able to deploy to project sites globally
  • Support provision of healthcare record quality assurance
  • Update, maintain, and administer Emwerx documentation system as well as auxiliary programs and software (Twilio, et al.)
  • Train / Mentor deployed medical staff in line with RMI clinical protocols, policies and procedures
  • Carry out DOT urine and BAT collection/testing training and competency checks with field staff
  • Identify and implement process improvements across department and field workflows
  • Carry out compliance and governance audits at deployed field clinic sites

When Deployed

  • Provide urgent and emergency care for all workers on the client worksite
  • Undertake accurate clinical assessments and examinations
  • Report on medical treatments in accordance with client requirements
  • Travel (if necessary) with the patient to the nearest medical facility
  • Ensure critical medical supplies and equipment are pre-packed and available for emergency use at dispersed sites during patient transport
  • Participate in simulation exercises organized by the client
  • Be fully conversant with Recordable Case Management guidelines
  • Be familiar with the ethos of the RMI Field Operations Manuals (FOM)
  • Be fully conversant with the field Medical Emergency Response Plan (MERP), Topside and Global Coordination Center (GCC) capability and all procedures required for medevacs or other patient transfer processes out of the field
  • Be fully cognizant of project disease prevention, control and management processes
  • Appropriately refers to consultation of Topside Support for non-resolving patients or those requiring secondary diagnostics
  • In incidents of emergency illness or injury cases, stabilize, manage and monitor patient(s) until aeromedical, vessel or ground transport evacuation takes place
  • Be the point of contact on the ground managing such emergency cases, communicating directly with the client Environment Health & Safety (EHS) or Operations personnel
  • Report to client nominated line-manager or EHS Supervisor regarding case categories (FAC/MTC/WR/NWR/LTI/RWC, etc.)
  • Take appropriate action regarding reportable diseases and communicable infection outbreak
  • Ensure that the clinic is maintained at full readiness with appropriate medicines, equipment and consumables as required by RHCP Guidelines or specific SOW/Work-task content
  • Ensure clinic equipment receives daily, weekly or monthly maintenance and technical checks as indicated
  • Carry out any Health and Hygiene control/management processes
  • Carry out any workforce first-aid training and emergency drill practices as directed by the site EHS entities, as may be required by the SOW
  • Manage site-controlled substances (CS) supply and forward monthly records of such checks and control measures of CS as directed
  • Complete and forward any reporting requirements from the client representative as required by the SOW
  • Complete any timesheet requirements in accordance with allocated timelines and forward accordingly
  • Always be professional in appearance and manner
  • Be the main point of contact for client EHS and site manager entities and communicate frequently with such personnel
  • Carry out any medical inductions required and monitor workforce personal health status in accordance with national, client or specific Fit to Work standards
  • Carry out drug & alcohol screening of the workforce as required by the SOW
  • Carry out workforce immunization programs as directed or required by the SOW
  • Encourage health promotion activities within the workforce
  • Be compliant with any statutory or company required training objectives
  • Be compliant with any client or SOW mandatory operational requirements
  • Maintain current professional certifications, as designated for assigned projects

Any additional tasks assigned by the Vice President of Clinical Operations

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two (2) years as an independent and fully qualified paramedic
  • US National Registry Paramedic and/or US State Licensed/Certified Paramedic
  • Other high level paramedic licenses reviewed as required
  • Previous experience in remote medical support services preferred, but not required
  • Experience working offshore preferred, but not required
  • Experience working within the wind industry preferred but not required

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and general computer & technology literacy
  • After receiving training and assessment, the ability to effectively use RMI EHR systems

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to successfully complete RMI pre-hiring procedures, including a clinical knowledge assessment
  • Proven reliability, integrity and professional conduct in previous employments
  • Able to successfully pass any nationally required, project or SOW required Fit to Work medical assessments
  • Must have documented and current immunizations as required by project and/or country’s Ministry of Health and as recommended by the Center of Disease Control
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports, both technical and procedural
  • Capable administrative and coordination skills
  • Ethical understanding of patient processes, data information and confidentiality
  • Awareness and following HIPAA rules and guidelines along with an understanding of similar processes required by countries outside the USA

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

  • Medical licenses/certifications as listed above, in good standing and without restrictions
  • OEUK or equivalent medical certificate
  • BLS/CPR (American Heart Association) or equivalent
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) AHA or equivalent
  • Offshore Water Survival preferred but not required
  • Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent(s) preferred but not required

DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Must be medically passed as Fit to Work as noted above. The working environment will often be in an austere location with limited communication and transport routes. Living conditions may be rudimentary, Special dietary needs will be difficult to cater for and should be declared on the pre-hire physical to assess suitability.

The area of deployment may present extremes of temperature and will often be remote in nature with little or poor infrastructure in the way of roads and access.

The areas of deployment may have several indigenous disease risks and all personnel must have appropriate immunizations as detailed in the pre-deployment health assessment guidelines. Malaria and Dengue are endemic and it is possible that daily malaria prophylaxis may be a project requirement.
