Job summary

Jobtailor, Philadelphia HQ, seeks a skilled attorney to lead the litigation docket from intake to resolution, including employment and commercial matters. You will direct outside counsel on strategy, discovery, and settlement while advising HR/Operations on investigations, terminations, and wage-and-hour issues.

You will also serve as the expert on independent contractor classification and gig economy policy, support contracts and new business initiatives, and manage projects in a fast-paced,

Qualifications

• 4-6+ years of legal experience with at least 2 years of hands-on litigation work (discovery, motion practice, outside counsel management)
• Litigation experience from firm, in-house, or government
• Employment counseling experience valued but not required
• Experience with independent contractor/gig economy/issues a plus
• Exposure to additional practice areas (contracts, corporate, real estate, product, regulatory) a plus
• Hybrid position with 3 days in office at Spring Garden HQ
• Ability to operate independently in a lean, fast-moving team
• Strong judgment translating legal risk into business decisions

Responsibilities

• Own the litigation docket, including employment, commercial, and other matters, from intake through resolution

• Handle appropriate matters in-house
• Strategically manage the litigation function, including prioritization, resourcing, outside counsel selection and performance, budgets, and reporting to senior leadership
• Counsel HR and Operations on performance, investigations, terminations, wage-and-hour, and accommodations matters
• Serve as the company expert on independent contractor classification, gig economy workforce issues, and related policy
• Support commercial contracting and other business agreements
• Provide product and operational counseling on new initiatives and evolving business models
• Own discrete projects in evolving areas of the business
• Collaborate with a lean, high-performing Legal team in a fast-paced environment

• Direct outside counsel on strategy, discovery, motion practice, and settlement
• Handle appropriate matters in-house

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school
• Admitted and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
• Hybrid position with 3 days in office at our Spring Garden HQ
• Ability to operate independently in a lean, fast-moving team
• Strong judgment and ability to translate legal risk into business decisions
