Job summary

GameStop is seeking a Senior Counsel - Employment and Litigation to provide legal guidance on litigation and employment issues. This onsite role in Grapevine, TX supports compliance and strategic policy development across the company.

The senior attorney will manage litigation, advise HR on hiring, discipline, leaves, and wage-hour compliance, and coordinate with outside counsel on complex matters. A JD and state bar licensure are required with 5+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited program.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one state.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience; mix of law firm and in-house preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient understanding of employment laws.
• Ability to manage cross-functional projects.

Working independently, the Senior Counsel - Employment and Litigation will provide legal guidance on a wide range of litigation and employment related issues for the Company. Principal outcomes include ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, and advising the Company on legal rights and duties.

This position sits onsite 5 days a week in Grapevine, TX.

Responsibilities

• Manage ongoing litigation, including employment, real estate and commercial litigation.
• Counsel on employment and compensation related matters, including hiring, discipline, accommodations and leaves, and serve as a liaison to the human resources department.
• Support the development of organizational policies, procedures and business strategies.
• Effectively leverage outside law firm attorneys and manage relationships with external legal affiliates.
• Provide advice regarding compliance with various laws and regulations, including wage and hour and employment practices laws.
• Supporting the Company in its compliance program, including maintain the Company’s Code of Ethics and Whistleblower Hotline.
• Assist with the negotiation and evaluation of a wide variety of commercial contracts
• Managing additional legal projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Doctorate of Jurisprudence from an accredited program required
• Licensed to practice law in at least one state
• A minimum of five years of relevant experience. A mix of law firm and in-house legal experience is preferred.

• Proficient presentation skills to effectively present information to an audience of varying responsibility within the company.
