Job Overview

Achieve successful resolution of legal issues for MBUSA with respect to company's business activities.



Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, draft, and analyze contracts and contract terms related to a variety of customer, vendor, trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters to protect MBUSA’s legal and business interests , Ensure MBUSA's commercial rights are protected through negotiating and drafting agreements.
  • Ensure MBUSA departments are properly informed of legal issues relating to their activities by consultation and communication and maintenance of sufficient familiarity of antitrust, data privacy and security, employment, franchise, contract, construction, tort, lemon law, warranty, environmental, consumer protection and product liability laws.
  • Ensuring with respect to controllable cost, compliance with annual operating budget by monitoring overtime, reviewing and approving outside counsel costs.
  • Provide legal support with respect to complex business transactions including contract interpretation, attending and leading meetings, drafting and responding to key communications, issue resolution and dispute management.
  • Deliver trainings on legal topics relevant to the business, and advise business on legal trends and developing areas of law; Perform other duties in support of the Legal Department, as assigned
Qualifications

Qualifications


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree (accredited school) and Juris Doctor degree (law degree)

Years of Experience Needed:

7-10 years of a combination of top tier law firm experience and general corporate legal experience.

Licenses/Certifications required:


Admission to State Bar, preferably Georgia.

Knowledge Detail
• Strong understanding of contracts legal principles.
• Transactional training in a large law firm is preferred. In-house experience with complex and international contractual agreements is also highly desired.

• Ability to provide support, advice and legal counsel regarding specific deals. Including editing, drafting, negotiating and legal research.

• Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner; must work well with minimal supervision and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Detail oriented, capable of handling heavy, multi-layered client, and be extremely responsive to tight turn around schedules for many transactions in various stages of development.

• Excellent communication and writing skills.

• Knowledge of retail processes and procedures, with emphasis in New and Pre-owned sales, accessories, service and parts.

• Knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization.

• Knowledge of laws, legal codes, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, as it relates to the automotive industry.

• Knowledge of the principles and methodology for a process-orientated, integrated approach to procuring, producing, and delivering products and services to customers.

Travel domestically
Work weekends when required
