Job description

Our client, a software and telecommunications company, is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead and scale its accounting operations. Reporting to the CFO, this position will play a critical role in maintaining strong financial infrastructure, implanting and refining systems and controls, and driving operational efficiency to support the company’s growth objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading accounting processes in a growth environment and demonstrate a hands-on approach to leadership. Preference is given to candidates based in the Pacific Northwest, but exceptional remote or hybrid candidates (ideally on Pacific Time) will also be considered.

CORPORATE CONTROLLER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the accounting team (5 team members) in core accounting functions, including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Lead processes and improvements to maintain the data accuracy and reporting from NetSuite and other accounting and operational systems.
• Review and revise accounting policies, controls, and procedures to align with a dynamic, team collaboration environment.
• Train, develop, and recruit team members capable of supporting the company’s scaling operations.
• Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and forecasts for management and stakeholders.
• Manage inventory accounting processes, ensuring accurate valuation, costing, and reconciliation.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations, and other industry standards including ASC 606.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that drive decision-making and operational success.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial and operating systems, tools and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability (including the review, improvement, integration, and implementation of existing and new system and tools).
• Private equity and M&A experience highly preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification required.
• 10 to 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a senior accounting or controller roles.
• Expertise in inventory accounting, ideally within telecom, software, IT, or hardware industries.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Experience working in small to medium-sized companies.
• Hands-on experience in NetSuite, including instance reconfiguration or implementation.
• Proven ability to build and manage accounting teams and processes.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth company.
• Self-motivated, solutions-driven approach with a proactive attitude.
• Demonstrates full accountability and ownership of responsibilities.
