CooperDouglas is partnering with a publicly traded technology manufacturer to hire a Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting function. This is a hands-on, high-impact seat for a seasoned Corporate Controller who wants to operate with a startup mindset inside a public company environment. You will own the month-end close, SEC reporting, and the internal control environment, while serving as a trusted finance partner to executive leadership. This role splits its focus between public company compliance and business enablement, making it ideal for a leader who thrives on ownership and pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting under US GAAP.
  • Oversee SEC reporting, including review of Form 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K filings, earnings releases, financial statements, and footnotes.
  • Manage deliverables and timelines across filings, technical accounting memos, and external auditor requests, keeping multiple priorities on track simultaneously.
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and the annual audit with the independent auditors.
  • Own the internal control environment, including SOX compliance oversight.
  • Research and implement new accounting and regulatory guidance, and write clear technical accounting memos.
  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting, standard costing, international entities, intercompany reconciliations, tax, and equity and payroll administration.
  • Provide deal support for financings, M&A, and other strategic transactions.
  • Partner with executive leadership on forecasting and margin analysis, and drive process improvement through automation and AI tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 or similar public accounting (not internship).
  • Prior experience as a Corporate Controller at a public company, with hands-on SEC reporting (10-K and 10-Q) experience.
  • Working knowledge of SOX compliance, standard costing, and multi-entity accounting, with comfort using modern finance systems, spreadsheets, and automation or AI tools.
  • Self-motivated, career-driven leader who takes ownership, steps up on a lean team, and communicates confidently with executives.
