MCS Puerto Rico is seeking a Communications Specialist to develop plans, coordinate editing, and ensure all content complies with health industry regulations. You will drive brand reputation and awareness across internal and external channels in support of our stakeholders.

You will create multilingual content in English and Spanish, edit materials for clarity, coordinate media and events, and work with providers and clinical areas to deliver timely communications that meet CMS guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related fields.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in writing newsletters, press releases, articles, and/or informative letters.
  • Languages: Spanish and English advanced proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and draft communications plans ensuring compliance and effectiveness across lines of business.
  • Collaborate with partners to enhance stakeholders' brand awareness and support major initiatives.
  • Create health-related content for traditional and digital channels.
  • Produce reports on communications and represent management in meetings.

  • Draft topics for e-drops, newsletters, brochures, and press materials.
  • Ensure messages are proofread and error-free in English and Spanish.

Responsible for ensuring that all written or verbal communications issued and sent by the company comply with the specifications of the Health Insurance Industry regulatory agencies, as applicable.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for developing communications plans, participating in planning sessions, evaluating, standardizing, coordinating, and editing the content of the material published for the company’s stakeholders both internally and externally. Identifies potential situations or opportunities and generates recommendations to drive brand reputation and awareness. Responsible for ensuring that all written or verbal communications issued and sent by the company comply with the specifications of the Health Insurance Industry regulatory agencies, as applicable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develop and draft communications plans and initiatives, ensuring compliance and effectiveness for all lines of business within the company and its subsidiaries. Reviews and enforces the process established in the Communications Standards and Approval Policy, as required.
  • Collaborates closely with communication partners to identify opportunities to enhance all stakeholders' brand awareness. Provides communications support to major initiatives, with providers and clinical areas (non-exclusive), symposiums, and educational events, ensuring that our brand is positioned appropriately and driving brand reputation.
  • Develops and customize health-related content, for all the communications channels both internally and externally in both traditional media and digital social networks.
  • Creates reports on processed communications and represents management at meetings to develop plans and initiatives.
  • Coordinates interviews or video production for all of the company areas, as needed.
  • Evaluate, develop, and draft topics to be included in all written communications such as e-drops, video newsletters, brochures, letters, press releases, op-eds, and articles, created for providers and members, among others.
  • Verifies the content of the messages addressed to the different audiences, and ensures they are proofread to detect and correct spelling, punctuation, and syntax mistakes before they are published, thus ensuring flawless content in both English and Spanish.
  • Edits, standardizes, and/or makes changes to materials drafted by others including, but not limited to key messages, communication plans, and scripts, and proofread documents to improve their readability, as appropriate for each audience. Additionally, standardizes the review and updates webpage content within the established period, per policy.
  • Review published materials and recommended revisions or changes in terms of scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding. Participates in the selection of photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and graphics to illustrate the material, as needed.
  • Identifies and refers to outside providers for translation of informational pieces (letters and documents) that require the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approval before sending them out to members.
  • Writes scripts and supports in the development and creation of content for each of the active influencers following the Public Relations and Marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborates with the clinical and provider area to drive brand awareness among the group and policyholders. This includes but is not limited to, the development and delivery of pieces and tactics that drive traffic to the corporate website and social media handles, as required.
  • Complies fully and consistently with the Company’s standards, policies, and procedures and with the local and federal laws applicable to our industry, business, and employment practices.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the education and experience requirements contained in this document.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related fields. At least three (3) years of experience in writing newsletters, press releases, articles, and/or informative letters.
