Job DescriptionSUMMARY:AST Bearings LLC is a leading nationwide supplier of high precision bearings and bearing related products. We are presently seeking a highly motivated Buyer Planner for our Purchasing Department located in our New Bedford, Massachusetts location. Come join our team in a fast-paced environment where we work with internal customers and international and domestic suppliers.This position reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and there is opportunity for growth as we are part of a Fortune 200 company with over 50,000 employees worldwide.JOB DUTIES• Analyze inventory, usage, forecasts and production data to determine appropriate scheduling. Intermediate* Excel skills needed.• Use and learn to become expert user of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) software.• Submit and follow up on Requests for Quotation (RFQ’s) to suppliers.• Negotiate with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery, and other requirements.• Communicate with freight forwarders and coordinate documents required for foreign shipments, both import and export.• Analyze product and assign HTS codes common to our industry.• Enter and maintain accurate duty and tariff information in system.• Assist Sales in determining landed costs, including cost, freight, and duty/tariffs.• Provide Sales with freight and air shipping costs as needed, including rush shipments.• Provide analysis and support for SKU rationalization / maintenance and other business initiatives.• Work proactively with sales and marketing to identify trends and refine the demand plan.• Liaise with external and internal delivery and warehouse teams to ensure goods are received on time.• Enter and monitor purchase orders and proactively expedite with Suppliers.• Obtain and review purchase order confirmation from suppliers, notifying sales of significant changes.• Maintain department files: purchase orders, quotations, new item forms, correspondence, etc.• Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCERequires a high school diploma, or equivalent. Three years or more experience and/or a related tertiary degree is a plus.
