Job summary

Tulane University in New Orleans, LA seeks a Director of Development for Corporate and Foundation Relations to lead funding strategies with priority corporate and foundation prospects for the Schools of Medicine, Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and Science and Engineering.

Job Description

The Director of Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations is a professional frontline fundraising position reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate, Foundation and Research Relations. The position will be responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting a targeted portfolio of priority corporate and foundation prospects for the Schools of Medicine, Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and Science and Engineering in concert with school-based strategic objectives. The Director of Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations will engage with and support deans and faculty teams to identify key companies and foundations for which engineering, technology, and health research is vital; develop and implement corporate and foundation strategies; and articulate the corporate and foundation investment value proposition. The position will work closely with other departments within the Office of Advancement including Donor Relations, Advancement Communications and Marketing, Principal Gifts, Major Gifts, and Advancement Information Services. The Director undertakes corporate and foundation relations functions with minimal management or oversight, and provides thought leadership for the frontline corporate and foundation fundraisers within the office.

Responsibilities

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills, including the ability to manage multiple demands and/or projects simultaneously, required.
  • Experience working with technology companies, health services organizations, clients, professional organizations, technology transfer and/or venture funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage professional contact with high level corporate representatives in a systematic and sustained manner.
  • Ability to travel, as well as attend events on evenings and weekend.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ corporate and foundation fundraising or health/technology industry relationship management experience. Transferable experience including sales, marketing, public relations may be considered; OR
  • High school diploma and 11 years’ corporate and foundation fundraising or health/technology industry relationship management experience. Transferable experience including sales, marketing, public relations may be considered.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certification may be considered
  • Master’s degree in engineering, science, business, or a technology field.
  • Experience working with an academic research university.
  • Commitment to the values of an institution of higher education.
  • Knowledge of Tulane University.
